A major part of the landscape in England, a large tree to 25m eventually forming a knotted tree with many branches and an irregular broad rounded crown. A slow growing tree living for many hundreds of years, the leaves emerge brownish red in spring turning green and later yellowish brown in autumn. A very good woodland tree, very hardy tolerates most soils but prefers nutritious moist soils.Shows very goodwind resistance, mix plenty of good compost with the soil and stake well.
