Tilia mongolica

A rarely cultivated form producing a small but very decorative tree to 8m. The young twigs are red and pendulous when mature, the leaf buds are also redish brown. The young leaves emerge with a red tint turning glossy green and then a lovely yellow in autumn. The leaves are heart shaped often with 3-5 lobes with a sharply tapered top and heart shaped base. Hardy tolerates all soils with good resistance to wind. Mix plenty of good compost with the soil and stake well.
