Celtis australis

A medium to large tree with a round head and graceful hanging branches. It is good for urban planting as it tolerates reflective heat and light well it will also tolerate air pollution. The leaves are dark green on top and grey green below with deep serrations. The flowers are small but are followed by cherry like fruit with are dark red almost black. Hardy but young twigs may be frosted, tolerates dry soils protect from the strongest winds. Plant with a good compost and stake well.
