Betula ermanii

A medium sized birch up to 15m in 25 years it is a strong growing tree which is tolerant of dry soils but is sensitive to windy sites. It has large green leaves early in spring and has striking yellow autumn colour. It has very attractive yellow-white to pink-white peeling bark from an early age. Hardy, stake well and use plenty of good quality planting compost ensure sufficient water is given during establishment.
